Solar Installation Cost in Kerala: 3, 5 & 10 kW
Compare system costs by scope and assumptions, rather than treating a per-kW number as a quotation.

Start with the full scope
A solar installation cost includes more than the modules. Inverter selection, mounting arrangements, protection and earthing, cabling, roof access and the condition of the existing electrical installation can affect the proposal. A hybrid design also needs a clear battery and backup specification.
V Power’s initial calculator baseline is ₹2,35,000 for 3 kW before subsidy. It scales the same cost per kW for a planning comparison. Real 5 kW, 10 kW and larger quotations may not scale linearly, and a site-specific scope takes precedence.
Illustrative capacity comparison
| Capacity | Base estimate before subsidy | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| 3 kW | ₹2,35,000 | Calculator assumption; not an offer or guaranteed quote |
| 5 kW | ₹3,91,667 | Calculator assumption; not an offer or guaranteed quote |
| 10 kW | ₹7,83,333 | Calculator assumption; not an offer or guaranteed quote |
Do not deduct a residential subsidy from a commercial or industrial proposal. Even for a home, eligibility, equipment requirements and approval must be checked. The gross cost and possible assistance should be shown separately.
Compare like-for-like proposals
- Confirm the proposed DC capacity and named module and inverter models.
- Ask whether mounting, earthing, cable routes and required electrical changes are included.
- Identify taxes, application-related work, access equipment and other inclusions or exclusions.
- Separate product warranty, installation responsibility and service warranty.
- Ask how a change in roof conditions or equipment availability would change the price.
Why the cheapest price may be incomplete
A proposal can appear cheaper if it excludes work that another includes. Ask the installer to explain the roof fixing plan, protection scope and handover documentation. For a home, also explain planned new appliances: a lower initial capacity may not reflect future electricity requirements.
Use the system-size estimator first, then compare a realistic capacity in the ROI calculator. For a business, read the commercial solar cost guide.
